Extol Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program 2008

What were you doing at 2.30 pm today, peeps?

While some of you were busy indulging yourself in Xmas and New Year shopping spree (yes, I know I know, the year end sales! (: ) or watching the irresistible Bolt / Twilight / [fill in yourself] , 18 participants of the Extol Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program 2008 were anxiously waiting for their turns to go on stage for their show time.

Today marked the last day of this public speaking program where youths get to learn the vital skills of public speaking and a speech competition was held to select the top 3 speakers as well as the most creative and most improved speaker.

And, we, the Gaveliers were given the honour to judge the 18 lively and active speakers. We were briefed by Toastmaster Patricia on the rules and criteria of the competition and then, the competition starts! It was a brand new experience for all 6 of us - Gavelier Yeoh Ee Ping, Club President Gavelier Chuan Ai Vee, Gavelier Samantha Leong (the Queen of Samantha Land) , Gavelier Yap Pei Qi aka Me, Gavelier Khor Wei Ken and also our boy, oops sorry, it's Gavelier Jeffrey BOEY.




















All of the speakers did equally well at their own level. These young speakers definitely have the confidence and poise that they need to conquer the competitive real world out there. We had a great time laughing, joking and of course, serious judging larrr.

And, 2 hours later, Voila! The results were out. The winners of course happy lor, everyone got certificates and early Xmas presents (: Not to forget, the judges too, received their token of appreciation.

So, it was really a fun experience for us. Congratulations to all speakers and till then.
